AAAAAAAAAAAH - HIGH SCHOOOL!!!

Camps Bay High School!

our sportsfield
Wauw!! is this MY school!
HIGH SCHOOL HAS STARTED!!!! Done with the homeschooling in apartments and libraries... I am at a fantastic, fun, social, public, exciting school named Camps Bay High!! It is located in Camps Bay near the beach (Just south of Cape Town and 20 minutes driving from Hout Bay where I live). I am in grade 9, thanks to mom home-schooling us. We did not have to "fail" a year! The first day at school with my new uniform was strange. I was soooo nervous I was singing very loud and made a lot of noise in the car!!!!!! I already knew the school building, because I had signed up 2 years ago so I knew where the entrance, reception, library and hall was, but the rest of the big school... I HAD NO IDEA WERE I HAD TO GO TO!!. Luckily I had a really nice friend who was at the same primary school as me and always stayed in contact with me. She showed me around and showed me her friends which I also became close friends with. I also met up with a girl who I went to playschool with. We were really good friends, but she went to another Primary school and now after 7 years we are again in the same High School. The one thing I missed the most last year while being home schooled was that I did not have breaks eating and talking with my friends. Last year I would just eat and listen to music alone! Anyway it is nicer and better to have friends near me then chatting on skype or facebook!

Assembly in the hall on Mondays and Fridays!
The schools here in South Africa started a new school year so you would have new teachers and classes. The grade 9, has 130 pupils into different classes with different Houses (groups)..... I know it sounds difficult, but we were split up for every lesson! Our school works like this : we don't have one teacher teaching us, we have a 45 minute lesson with about 25 of us and then when the lesson is over we go to our next class! We also have lockers, like in the " highs school" movies!! Well it feels very cool having friends, lockers, classes, homework, walking around in a uniform feels organised (which I love)! Going to the subject of uniforms. Our uniform is great and I love it. It feels comfortable wearing skorts (skirt + shorts underneath) polo t-shirt with our logo, brown shoes and then on Monday and Friday we wear a blazer during our formal assembly. When it gets cold we also have a Jersey, but so far with the temperatures above 25C the sweater is not so popular. I do not just love Camps Bay because it feels like a second home, but also because it's not too strict. A personal touch is allowed and so one can have different color schoolbags and how nice to be able to bring your mobile phone to school.

How my day/week looks like? Camps Bay High starts at 8:00 o'clock. I take the bus or have a lift just down my street and I go with a few friends from the same area. I arrive at school around 7:40 am with a lot of time left to meet friends and get my books out of the locker. We have 2 breaks -each of 30 minutes- and then after school ends at 2:40 pm I quickly go to my locker, take my books out for homework and run to the bus stop. I relax for 20 minutes in the bus and it stops again just down from my house. At home I have a muesli bar, go swim and then the rest of the day till 6:00 pm I do my homework/study and then water my plants, set the table, eat, read, sleep! That is my normal school day. Sometimes I have sports in the afternoon and on Wednesday I need to rush since I have to go to Dutch School from 3.00 pm till 6.00 pm. You see why I am always so excited when it is weekend and I can go and do things with my friends. TV and sports!! or going away with my family!

I love Camps Bay High School and I hope I will still like it ones I am in Grade 12!!!!

Till in 2 weeks time!
