Hello blog viewers, 

I am stopping with writing my blog, because I am busy with other nice things with school and other nice projects. I feel that "writing" is definitely interesting. I am shore i will do something with it in futurand "speak to you soon"

AAAAAAAAAAAH - HIGH SCHOOOL!!!

HIGH SCHOOL HAS STARTED!!!! Done with the homeschooling in apartments and libraries... I am at a fantastic, fun, social, public, exciting school named Camps Bay High!! It is located in Camps Bay near the beach (Just south of Cape Town and 20 minutes driving from Hout Bay where I live). I am in grade 9, thanks to mom home-schooling us. We did not have to "fail" a year! The first day at school with my new uniform was strange. I was soooo nervous I was singing very loud and made a lot of noise in the car!!!!!! I already knew the school building, because I had signed up 2 years ago so I knew where the entrance, reception, library and hall was, but the rest of the big school... I HAD NO IDEA WERE I HAD TO GO TO!!. Luckily I had a really nice friend who was at the same primary school as me and always stayed in contact with me. She showed me around and showed me her friends which I also became close friends with. I also met up with a girl who I went to playschool with. We were really good friends, but she went to another Primary school and now after 7 years we are again in the same High School. The one thing I missed the most last year while being home schooled was that I did not have breaks eating and talking with my friends. Last year I would just eat and listen to music alone! Anyway it is nicer and better to have friends near me then chatting on skype or facebook!

The schools here in South Africa started a new school year so you would have new teachers and classes. The grade 9, has 130 pupils into different classes with different Houses (groups)..... I know it sounds difficult, but we were split up for every lesson! Our school works like this : we don't have one teacher teaching us, we have a 45 minute lesson with about 25 of us and then when the lesson is over we go to our next class! We also have lockers, like in the " highs school" movies!! Well it feels very cool having friends, lockers, classes, homework, walking around in a uniform feels organised (which I love)! Going to the subject of uniforms. Our uniform is great and I love it. It feels comfortable wearing skorts (skirt + shorts underneath) polo t-shirt with our logo, brown shoes and then on Monday and Friday we wear a blazer during our formal assembly. When it gets cold we also have a Jersey, but so far with the temperatures above 25C the sweater is not so popular. I do not just love Camps Bay because it feels like a second home, but also because it's not too strict. A personal touch is allowed and so one can have different color schoolbags and how nice to be able to bring your mobile phone to school.

How my day/week looks like? Camps Bay High starts at 8:00 o'clock. I take the bus or have a lift just down my street and I go with a few friends from the same area. I arrive at school around 7:40 am with a lot of time left to meet friends and get my books out of the locker. We have 2 breaks -each of 30 minutes- and then after school ends at 2:40 pm I quickly go to my locker, take my books out for homework and run to the bus stop. I relax for 20 minutes in the bus and it stops again just down from my house. At home I have a muesli bar, go swim and then the rest of the day till 6:00 pm I do my homework/study and then water my plants, set the table, eat, read, sleep! That is my normal school day. Sometimes I have sports in the afternoon and on Wednesday I need to rush since I have to go to Dutch School from 3.00 pm till 6.00 pm. You see why I am always so excited when it is weekend and I can go and do things with my friends. TV and sports!! or going away with my family!

I love Camps Bay High School and I hope I will still like it ones I am in Grade 12!!!!

Back to my life in South Africa

Since we are back in Hout Bay - Cape Town I have been busy with unpacking, seeing my friends and preparing for SCHOOL!!!!!! I did not spend my time only with my friends, but also with my family -  grandma and grandma came from Holland and will stay for 3 months. They could not go into their own apartment so they are living with us.

The Kreefts had organised a Sangria and Tapa Friday night for all the followers of our journey to catch up.  Let me first explain what a "Tapa" is; a wide variety of appetizers,snacks, finger food that originated in Spain. All nice little plates of food we eat in Spain and wrote down to make at home. Well our Tapas were olives, prawns, paella, bread, ham, meat, spinach with humus and tortillas. It was a fun night seeing the people we hadn't seen for a long time!

The next hot day I went with my friends to a Theme Park in Cape Town. It was soo busy, that it was not funny anymore standing in the 10-85 minute with the boiling hot sun shining on you and while waiting every 5 minutes putting sun cream on...... despite all that we did have much fun leaving the most scariest ride ever "THE COBRA" for last!



DESSERT!!
On the 14th it was Steven's birthday and he turned 13. He invited 5 friends over to play soccer and swim.We put on some loud music and made hot dogs and drinks and it ended up as a fun party. BUT the biggest surprise, the biggest surprise was that he went to cut off his hair that he had been growing for a whole year without going to a hair dresser.

So the photo on the right with his friends is the last one you will see from Steven on this blog with long hair. From now on...it is.....Steven with short hair!! After the hairdresser cut off his hair he saved it to send it to the Cancer Association to make it into a wig. One of his teacher in school did it and he thought it was a very good idea.

After the hair dresser Steven opened his presents and got brand new school shoes, FC Barcelona bed cover with a Barcelona file for school and he got a beautiful  BICYCLE!!!! We had pizza and pasta with a delicious dessert at the end!

Eventually we prepared for school and we bought all our stationery and books for school and covered them with paper that Oma and Opa brought all the way from Holland. The day before school started I went to get my uniform, shoes, sport clothes and blazer.

I have started school now and the 3 days were very exciting. I have met a few friends already and know most of my teachers. I already feel @ home in Camps Bay High School and it feels I have been here since 2 years. I will let you know everything about my first 2 weeks in HIGH SCHOOOOOL!!!!!!!

HOME SWEET HOME

We have a new year in front of us! This year - 2013 - is a fresh new year without traveling and enjoying the Cape, telling you about our beautiful community. Well my new year has started by starting a new blog with
"Loes Lindiwe in the Cape". I am trying to write my blog every week, so please do keep on following!!

On the 1st of January 2013 and after a year visiting so many different places we touched down in Cape Town/ HOME!!!!

How was your New Years eve? Well..... mine was different since I was celebrating it in the plane. We flew with Edelweis from Switserland and they did not make a big thing out of it. We were supposed to toast with a glass of Champagne, but the service was very slow and as the pilot counted down 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 not even half of the passengers had received their drink. Everyone was quiet and nothing really happened. Luckily the Kreeftenbergs were prepared and we bought a New Years Eve-partypack from the Chinese shop in Spain. I blew the whistle and wore the golden wig, Steven had a mask, but left the fire crackers out (l.o.l). So we were making a little party with mom and dad shouting "HAPPY NEW YEAR"!! Everyone suddenly looked at us and I was kind of embarrassed seeing everyone staring at us. We woke up half the plane, but who cares.. ITS A NEW YEAR!!!

Arriving on Tuesday the 1st of January at 11:00 am in CAPE TOWN we passed very fast through the immigration and the customs. My dad, the lucky one, just walked through, but mom and Steven had to open the suitcases! Steven and I walked through the door into the arrival hall and all of a sudden I saw the family Bakker. My best friend Roos came up to me and hugged me and we both started crying, because of the excitement that we both did not see each for a year! They were holding a banner with
"WELCOME BACK TO CAPE TOWN". Maaike, the lady who stayed in our house for a year was there to take us back home!

It felt great to be back home and I loved to be in my room again. We had to start unpacking all the things we put away in store and it was exciting to see my 'old' things again. Meanwhile friends came by to say HI and also I went with mom to the office to say Hi to everyone there. Many of the people in the office read my blog and it was nice to hear from them that they like my stories.

After 2 days sleeping and unpacking, sleeping and unpacking, we had an invitation for my mother's '50 years + 50 days' birthday celebration from Astrid (my second mother). She organised a special 5 star dinner which Astrid and her son Gianini made. It was delicious!

Also on Saturday we were invited to go and have a braai (barebeque) at friends who we always play Sunday Soccer with.. the Osse's. After having great Rice Tafel (sort of Paella), the boys played play station, the dads watched football and the moms + me danced to German music.Which was much fun!

Every Sunday families play soccer on the beach for a few hours and the moms walk along the beach chatting. The boys (and me) play against the dads. So nice to be there on the beach again and get tired. During our trip we always told people about this Sunday routine and maybe that is why we started to miss it.
It was a hot day too and Roos and I decided to made Lemonade which we sold in the street and Steven and Tom(Dutch friend of Steven) sold home made biscuits. We all made a profit and were very happy and by the end of the day we were tired and warm of the hot sun and jumped in the pool!!! What a great start of the year.
